Remote controlled micromanipulator for patch clamping and fine movement applications

The DC3K motorized micromanipulator provides remote controlled, vibration-free fine travel, plus coarse drives, in all three dimensions. The remote control provides stability suitable for patch clamping.

Micromanipulator
Convenient features include a swivel-up hinge on the probe motor to allow it to be tilted up to 90° and locked securely in place. The probe holder may be swung out to the side to change pipettes and returned to precisely the original position.

Three-Dimensional Joystick Controller
The joystick controller allows control of the micromanipulator movements in the X, Y, and Z axes simultaneously. Speed of movement is regulated by the degree of displacement of the joystick from the center “null” position. The vertical (Z) drive is controlled by rotating the knob on the joystick.

Joystick Controller

Manipulator movements are lag-free. The micrometers are graduated in 10 micron increments, movements of 2 or 3 microns can be controlled under visual guidance through a microscope.

Push-Button Controller 
Single “steps” from .50 microns to 10 microns can be executed with the push button controller.

Push-Button Controller

The push button controller has six buttons, one each for forward and reverse in each of the three axes. A touch of the button triggers a step of the preset size. Holding the button down for over a second produces continuous smooth movement at a preset speed. A unique feature of this controller is the electronic backlash compensation. When the direction of movement is reversed, a compensatory pulse of preset size corrects for lost motion. A handheld remote control accessory unit (55315) is available to operate one axis at a time from a distant location.
